Meet Martina Rutledge

I’m a writer, storyteller, and narrative consultant who helps people doing meaningful work find language that feels true to their voice — clear, human, and grounded.

My background spans creative writing, long-form storytelling, education, and communications, with a particular focus on voice, meaning, and coherence. I’m especially drawn to work that is layered, values-driven, or difficult to translate into conventional marketing language.

Much of my work involves listening closely — for tone, cadence, and what’s being said beneath the surface — and then shaping language that reflects the integrity of the work itself. I don’t impose frameworks or formulas. I help clients recognize what’s already there and articulate it in ways others can understand and trust.

I bring nearly a decade of experience working at the intersection of care, creativity, and communication, including deep familiarity with grief, caregiving contexts, and mission-driven work. That experience informs how I listen and write — with empathy, clarity, and respect for boundaries — without turning this work into coaching or therapy.

Today, my client work lives within Ravensong Storycrafting Studio, the professional services arm of Ravensong Creative. Through this studio, I offer narrative and voice foundations, done-for-you editorial and content support, and collaborative storycrafting sessions.

Alongside client work, I also maintain separate creative projects — including The re:Membering Project and Breath & Bone — where I explore myth, memory, and story more personally and experimentally. These projects inform my sensibility, but they are not the container for client services.

At the heart of all of this is a simple belief:
language shapes how we understand ourselves and one another — and getting it right matters.

If you’re looking for a thoughtful, collaborative partner to help clarify your message and voice, I’d be glad to explore whether we’re a good fit.

How I Work

My work is grounded in careful listening, thoughtful interpretation, and respect for voice. I focus on helping people doing meaningful work articulate their message clearly — without flattening complexity or resorting to formulaic marketing language.

I value clarity over hype, coherence over persuasion, and language that can be sustained over time.
